The residents of Mosquitoville had their hearts broken once again

— The Texas Rangers finally got back to .500 Saturday night in a 6-2 victory over cross-state rival Houston at Rangers Ballpark. The win, second in the series, marked the seventh straight series win for the Rangers following their seven-game losing streak in April.

Rangers starter Vicente Padilla never let the Astros establish any momentum, going seven innings and giving up just two runs off five hits. Padilla walked three and struck out six, and improved his record to 6-2 with a 3.16 ERA.

The Rangers offense had no problem getting on base, and in fact the final score could have been a lot more lopsided had the Rangers been able to take advantage of runners in position. As a team, Texas had 14 hits, including eleven off Astros starter Roy Oswalt.

Center fielder Marlon Byrd led the charge, going 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in the second inning that made it 4-1 and provided the game-deciding runs. Milton Bradley also had a good game, going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first.
