City of Parker puts out call for (soon-to-be) vacant council seat

In the May 10 municipal election, Joe Cordina was elected mayor of Parker while both Eleanor Evans and Scott Levine won council member seats. Those three worthies will be on hand at the Parker City Council meeting on Tues., May 20 (7 p.m. at City Hall) to receive the oath of office and begin serving their terms.

First, though, the election results will be officially canvassed and approved by the election day judge and clerks.

Following a formal recognition of the outstanding service performed by outgoing mayor Tartaglino and council member Lynn Guffee, there will be a meet-and-greet - with refreshments! - during which much hand-shaking and back slapping will no doubt ensue.

Consideration and/or action items to be taken up in the regular meeting (to follow the back-slapping) include:

* appointment of the chief investment officer and committee members

* amendment of signature cards for Texstar and bank accounts

* selection of council liaison for public communications

* a revised interlocal agreement with Collin County in re. to the McCreary Road project

In other Parker City Council news, the council is accepting applications to fill an upcoming expected vacancy on the council. And it's always accepting applications from citizens willing to serve on boards, commissions and subcommittees, because heaven knows where we'd all be without those sorts of entities.

Here's a link to the board and commission ap (it's a .pdf file), and the same application can be used to apply for the council seat. A resume should be included with the application, and both documents should be filed with the City Secretary's office by May 30 at 5 p.m.
