Plano-based JCPenney cuts back slightly on store openings for 2008

In response to the lagging economy, J.C. Penney Co. is cutting back on store openings for 2008. They're still going to open 36 new stores this year, but that's down from 50 that they originally planned. And given the way the economy continues to tank, they don't expect to open more than 36 stores in 2009.
