Dallas Assistant City Manager Jill Jordan overturns suspension of police sergeant

Dallas' Assistant City Manager Jill Jordan unsuspended Dallas Police Sergeant Walter Clifton, overturning a suspension by his boss Police Chief David Kunkle. Clifton was the cop who encouraged his officers to fill in phony jobs on tickets they were writing for homeless people.

Seems odd that she'd second-guess Kunkle in the first place, since it basically undermines his authority. But then she wrote that "my decision in this matter is non-appealable". Mommy said no. And now she's made herself unavailable for comment. Out of town. On a business trip. Cellphone dead. Laryngitis.

Kunkle had no comment, while First Assistant City Manager Ryan Evans said that he's "unaware of her decision-making progress," so that's pretty good. Meanwhile, new rules say that future appeals will be heard by the city manager, not those renegade assistant city managers.
