Three notable films that we covered during their theatrical runs release today on DVD.
National Treasure: Book of Secrets covers more conspiracy and hidden treasure bases than you can shake a bag of gold coins at, and does so with no concern for the cost of elaborate sets or special effects - which should delight those who thrilled to the same formula and presentation during their viewing of the first N.T. film. Nic Cage cracks wise and kicks puzzle-solving ass.
Alex thought Diary of the Dead defined derivative plotting, and did so in a dumbed-down way. (If I'm reading him right. Which I think I am.) I also had a chance to interview George Romero by phone.
And I got a chance to meet with (and interview) the director of the indie sex spoof Park, Kurt Voelker. This is the film which has the stones to say, "mental domination is the key - except with cats."
For TV buffs, you can now own (or rent, etc.) the first season of the TBS sitcom The Bill Engvall Show, starring - well, you know. We spoke with Bill (who went to school in Richardson) by phone when his series premiered last July.

The Magnetic Fields Quartet led by songwriter Stephen Merritt is resolutely "indie" so how come their music has been used in a Volvo commercial and appeared in the film Lemony Snicket? More info
