Flower Mound Police to celebrate Emergency Services Volunteer Assistance program with fair and expo on May 23

— The Flower Mound Police Department and the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association are hosting a Volunteer Fair and Equipment Expo to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Emergency Services Volunteer Assistance program.

Scheduled for 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. May 23 at the Flower Mound Police Department, 4150 Kirkpatrick Lane, the event will feature members of Flower Mound’s various volunteer organizations including the Citizen Patrol Group (CPG) and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). In addition, the expo will showcase volunteer program equipment demonstrations featuring the Skywatch Tower and Parks and Trails Patrol Vehicle. All volunteer program equipment has primarily been funded through seized money or property from criminals and grants.

The Flower Mound Police Department recently implemented the CPG to assist the department in securing a high quality of life for Flower Mound residents and to ensure the Town remains one of the safest communities in North Texas. The 65 Police Department volunteer members have already served more than 950 volunteer hours.

Comprised of Citizen Police Academy Alumni, the CPG is charged with conducting patrols and reporting suspicious activity to Flower Mound Police, as well as assisting with functions such as home security inspections, motorist assists, traffic control at special events, crime prevention programs like “McGruff”, and school zone monitoring. The group also assists with Police Department Tours, National Night Out, and the Police Department Open House.
