City of Hurst to consider cracking down on tall grass perps
At its upcoming meeting on May 27, the Hurst City Council will consider the following:
Tall Grass Crackdown
The council will consider updating the number of days a homeowner can allow their yard to have fugly, tall grass. As it stands now, a home owner has ten days to respond to a "high weeds and grass nuisance" notification issued by the city; the council would like to make it 7.
Everyone Has AIDS
...In the event of an emergency, that is. Because Hurst was one of the original creators the multi-city Northeast Fire Training Association, they're naturally interested in continuing with this kind of brotherly love. As such, the Mutual Aid Agreement for Fire and Emergency Medical Services will be up for renewal on Tuesday's meeting.
The agreement binds the cities—of Bedford, Colleyville, Euless, Grapevine, Haltom City, Keller, North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, Southlake, Trophy Club, Watagua and Westlake—in a pact that allows each member to offer emergency aid outside their own boundaries to their fellow cities.
Jeremiah Gerontology
And the council will consider approving a site plan making way for the development of a Jeremiah Seniors, a 135-unit, three-story senior citizen apartment complex, to be located at 901 W Hurst Blvd. The developer, Jeremiah 29:11 Inc, will be using federal low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC) and a HOME program loan in order to build the apartments at market quality, yet make the units affordable to independent seniors on fixed incomes.
The apartments will only be leased to seniors over 55 years of age, and no children will be allowed to reside permanently on the property. The site plan indicates a gated community with access to Hurst Blvd. There will be a leasing enter/community building at the entrance, and the units will be in a courtyard lay-out. There are two (2) outdoor parks, a putting green, horseshoes, shuffleboard, and a walking path planned for the site. Inside, amenities include a community room, library, and fitness room.
