From May 29 - June 28, Circle Theatre is presenting Lee Blessing's Chesapeake. Three words: art, politics and dogs … anyone who finds each word intriguing on its own, and the three irresistible together, will be delighted by this story about an artist, a conservative southern politician and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever.
Chesapeake, starring Mark Linn-Baker, was produced by Jim Freydberg in conjunction with New York Stage and Film. It opened at Second Stage Theatre (New York City) in October 1999. The production received nominations for both Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Solo Performance. Chesapeake had its world premiere, with Linn-Baker, in June 1998, at New York Stage and Film's summer headquarters on the Vassar College campus in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Jaime Castañeda guest directs this one-man tour-de-force, featuring Jakie Cabe as an up-and-coming performance artist named Kerr.
Bring “doggie toys” or puppy chow when you come to the show and they will deliver your donations to the Humane Society of North Texas. The Humane Society will have dogs eligible for adoption at Circle’s opening night performance, Thursday, June 5th.
Previews take place on May 29, 30, 31, with a champagne opening on June 5. Purchase tickets by calling 817-877-3040.
