After a trip to jail Friday, I've enjoyed the sweet smell of freedom all week. Landlords in Farmers Branch have also found themselves free — from the hassles of determining their tenants' residency status — after a federal judge found the town's council- and voter-affirmed ordinance unconstitutional. But former Dallas councilman James Fantroy relinquished his chance to admit guilt and will spend a month behind bars for it.

Artsy: The DMA has a new exhibit chronicling the high times of those incredible Murphys. West and Clear reviewed the Fort Worth Opera's Turandot and North Dallas Gazette checked out Intimate Apparel at WaterTower Theatre while Mark-Brian Sonna was busy watching Blue, Cats, and A Texas Romance.

New 2008 Accords and Civics

Listen up: Brenna made Swift Tracks to hear Robert Gomez and Sarah Jaffe. Todd reviews Rivethead's The 13th Step. 2K7 Photography got some good shots at the Jagermeister Tour (featuring bands, not alcohol). I Love Math also released their second CD, including four tracks featuring late keyboardist Carter Albrecht.

Sports: College Football Top Ten has an eye on UNT. Richardson Echo spends quality time with a local gal-turned-stock car driver. Todd skewers the Penguins in his Cupcheck. The Stars wrapped up one of their four promising young defensemen, but lost a coach to the lure of Sweden, while the Rangers finally lost a series.

The Biz: ExxonMobil drew protesters but changed nothing at its annual meeting. Flowserve is serving Chinese nuclear plants. Connecticut has interest in Tyler Technologies of Dallas.
