New Green Guides will help residents and businesses ‘green’ Dallas

— For many people, ‘going green’ sounds like a great idea... they just don't know where to start. With that in mind, GreenDallas.net has created simple, easy-to-use guides featuring comprehensive information and ideas. The Green Guides are available for free download on the City of Dallas’ green Web site, www.GreenDallas.net.

“Since we launched our Web site back in January, we continue to get the same questions from our residents: How do I start? and How can I make my workplace greener?,” says Laura Fiffick, Director of the City’s Office of Environmental Quality. “In response, we put together both a Green Guide for Residents and a Green Guide for Businesses with a lot of simple things people can do to green their homes and offices.”

The guides feature tips on energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, air quality, vehicle tips and much more. The business guide even tells readers how to start a “Green Team” in their workplaces.

“Often, we are hearing from employees who say their companies throw away a lot of paper or plastic bottles, and the employees want to do something about it,” says Jill Jordan, Assistant City Manager. “And many companies are listening. They’re not only allowing their employees to create these Green Teams, they’re changing the way they operate day-to-day to become more environmentally responsible.”

The Green Guide for Residents and the Green Guide for Businesses can both be downloaded for free at www.GreenDallas.net under the Downloads and Helpful Information link on the right hand side of the homepage.

Other questions posed to GreenDallas.net:
* Why does the green guide contain the exact same information as on the website?
* Are there more dangerous places to put recycling igloos?
* Is anybody ever going to empty the things?
* More than half of Dallasites live in apartments, when are you going to commit to curbside recycling for them?
* Can you get serious about this?

Meantime, "Perry the Pipe" gives me nightmares:

And his name makes him sound more like a drug dealer than a green crusader.
