President of UT Southwestern Medical Center to be inducted into Texas Business Hall of Fame
When he retires in September, Dr. Kern Wildenthal will have served as president of University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center for 22 years. During his tenure, the Center's operating budget grew from $184 million to over $1.4 billion, while the size of center facilities under roof tripled - from 2.5 million to 9 million sq. ft. Meanwhile, UT Southwestern's research enterprises expanded from $56 million to $363 million.
Not surprising, then, that Wildenthal will find himself among the handful of non-profit leaders elected into the Texas Business Hall of Fame when that organization inducts this year's nominees in November.
Honored along with Dr. Wildenthal will be Cullen/Frost Bankers Inc. Chairman and CEO Dick Evans; Mike A. Myers of Myers Financial; and Glen Roney of Texas Regional Bancshares Inc.
