City of Carrollton discontinues 2008 July 4 celebration to focus on 2009 event
CARROLLTON The Carrollton city council has decided to forego the annual Independence Day celebration and fireworks show held at Kelly Sports Complex in favor of creating a new signature event to begin in 2009. This will allow the city to create a unique new event for Carrollton, rather than compete with surrounding communities for July 4th attendees.
Details for the new event will be released on the city’s official website, as they become available.
Alternative July 4th events are taking place in Lewisville, Coppell, The Colony and many other nearby cities. Information is available at each city’s website. For an event in Carrollton, stop by the historic downtown Carrollton square, located at Interstate 35 and Belt Line Road, on Saturday, July 5. For more information about the community event, visit this website.
