Speculators buying up cheap land in West Dallas near Calatrava bridge site
A couple of investment companies are buying up big plots of land in West Dallas, seemingly in anticipation of the construction of the planned Calatrava Bridge, notes eagle-eyed Steve Brown at the DMN.
A company called West Dallas Investments has bought 30 acres between Sylvan Avenue and the river, while another company called Commerce Properties West has bought 10+ acres along Commerce and Main streets. The two companies are related, and their purchases represent at least 100 commercial and residential properties valued at more than $8 million, though taken all together, it'll represent much more.
Businessman Larry McGregor seems to be the big gun, although the partnership also includes restaurateur Phil Romano and a guy that Steve Brown says is named Khraish H. Khraish. How do you get a name like that? It seems like that kind of name would make life pretty easy. Teresa B. Teresa.
