City of Burleson places fourth in Region 2 Park Rodeo

The City of Burleson tied for 4th out of 16 cities in Region 2 competition of the annual Texas Recreation and Park Society Region 2 and 3 Park Rodeo hosted by Farmers Branch.
Johnny West, park maintenance supervisor, won first place in the backhoe category; the team of Dennis Chittum and Charles Spradlin, both park maintenance workers, won second place in truck and trailer backing; and Rodney Schlotzhauer, facilities maintenance technician, won fourth place in the nail driving competition. All four City of Burleson employees will compete again on Friday, Feb. 27, in Austin in the State Rodeo.
The categories included backpack blower, backhoe, irrigation, mower obstacle out front, mower obstacle zero turn, nail driving, plant and weed identification, playground safety inspection and truck and trailer.
In Region 2, Burleson competed against Arlington, Bedford, Colleyville, Corinth, Denton, Fort Worth, Grapevine, Highland Village, Keller, Lewisville, Mansfield, North Richland Hills, Southlake, Watauga and Weatherford. Region 3 included Allen, Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Garland, Irving, Mesquite, Plano, Rockwall and Wylie.
The rodeo took place in Farmers Branch on Oct. 9. Only one employee from each city was allowed to compete in each event.
