DALLAS The Transportation Regulation Division of the Public Works and Transportation Department of the City of Dallas delivered a letter on Tuesday morning to Lone Star Auto Services, Inc. revoking its vehicle tow service license for "some 24 violations of Chapter 48A of the Dallas City Code ... In addition, Transportation Regulation is investigating an additional 40 complaints of violations related to the incidents at the State Fair of Texas on October 11, 2008."
Lone Star is the towing company that went rogue during the State Fair of Texas, inappropriately towing a number of cars and causing a stink so huge that the city could not ignore it.
UPDATE: It's been ruled that Lone Star Auto Services can continue to operate until their Dec. 4 hearing.

It is great that the city finally did something about these scumbags. I have no doubt though, that they will come back under some other name and continue to rip people off. Too bad we can't run people out on a rail anymore..or perhaps a good tar and feathering is in order..

This is awesome, but I have a question - what about all the places that they had a contract with? If I park somewhere they used to tow from, will I not get towed for a few days while the owner of the spot figures out a new agreement?

Note to self, chain car to something large and immovable next time I park anywhere even near a business they service.
Also, set Duke's on fire.

lmao, Pavel they've expanded parking. Speaking as one of the few who didn't get towed, wasn't terribly reluctant to go back for someone's birthday shindig. That huge fu*&-off lot across the way that's always empty is now in play.

This is one chance for the City to be a visible advocate for the citizens and visitors of Dallas. I hope they don't screw it up and I hope they don't let them simply open again under another name.

Travis, according to the DMN City Hall blog, the hearing could take all day. We'll try to update when the decision comes down.
