McDavid Studio celebrates New Year’s Eve with Blues N’Breakfast

0

Bass Performance Hall, Joe T. Garcia's and Esperanza's Café are teaming up for a Blues n’ Breakfast New Year’s Eve Party at McDavid Studio on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at 9:00 p.m. Jim Suhler, Alan Haynes and The Tejas Brothers will provide the music, while Joe T’s and Esperanza’s will serve up the breakfast, buffet-style. Tickets are $100 – which includes a breakfast-food buffet and complimentary champagne toast – for general admission, cabaret-style seating and go on sale THIS Saturday, November 8, at 10 a.m.

Jim Suhler and Alan Haynes have been a part of the Texas blues-rock scene for decades. Dallas-based singer/guitarist Suhler has toured with George Thorogood and, with his backup band Monkey Beat, released a string of critically acclaimed blues-rock CDs. The Cumberland & Westmorland Herald proclaimed, "(he's) the best thing out of Dallas since J.R. Ewing."

Haynes, a native of Houston, has performed with a variety of blues-rock luminaries, including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert Collins, John Lee Hooker, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Cray, John Mayall and Joe Walsh. He has won numerous regional music awards and was inducted into Buddy Magazine's "Texas Tornado List" of the best guitarists in Texas.

Suhler and Haynes have been performing together for several years. In 2000, Topcat Records released Jim Suhler and Alan Haynes: Live at the Blue Cat Blues, a live CD the duo recorded at the Blue Cat Blues club in Dallas.

Also on the bill are The Tejas Brothers, a Fort Worth quartet that is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about bands in Texas. Taking cues from blues, rock, country and Tejano music, the quartet – made up of guitarist Chris Gonzalez, bassist John Garza, drummer Danny Cochran and singer/accordion-player David Perez – recently released its 11-song, self-titled debut CD. Gonzalez describes it as “genuine Texas music.”

Ticket prices include a complimentary breakfast-food buffet, courtesy of Joe T. Garcia's and Esperanza's Café, as well as a midnight champagne toast.

To charge tickets by phone, call (817) 212-4280 in Fort Worth; 1-877-212-4280 (toll free) outside Fort Worth; or order online at www.basshall.com.
