Robert Miklos elected to Texas House District 101 seat
Robert Miklos (D) was elected to the seat in Texas House District 101, defeating opponent Mike Anderson (R) by a mere 527 votes, earning 23,697 votes to Anderson's 23,170 votes.
In what was referred to as a "bruising battle," the two men were seeking to replace incumbent Thomas Latham, who was defeated by Anderson, a former mayor of Mesquite for 10 years, in the Republican primary. The win is considered a valuable coup for the Democratic party in a district that includes Mesquite, Sunnyvale, and Balch Springs, and has been Republican for more than 20 years.
