Arlington schedules warrant roundup for Nov. 10 - 14

Avoid arrest by paying your debt to society (online or by phone), you damn scofflaws!

Arlington police will be casting a wide loop during the week beginning Monday, Nov. 10, looking to snare people with outstanding warrants. They'll be rounding 'em up and throwing (or placing gently, as warranted - get it?) their sorry scofflaw asses into the hoosegow.

This could be you (on the left), unless you pay the City of Arlington its due.
This could be you (on the left), unless you pay the City of Arlington its due.

What's the impetus behind this week-long unpaid-ticket nab-fest? Well, for one thing, Arlington has more than 74,000 outstanding warrants on the books - and with average ticket penalties ranging in the low- to mid-three figure area, we're talking about a slew of cash that could be plugged into the city liquidity pipeline with a solid dose of compliance.

Plus, dammit, these people broke the damn law and they ought to be made to pay. Dammit.

To check the list of (Class C misdemeanor) warrants currently on file at the City of Arlington, direct your damn browser here, where you will also find information about paying your due before the devil (in blue) makes an appearance at your front door.

With handcuffs.

So the cops in this town have nothing better to due than round up people who haven't paid tickets. Sound to me like ti's time for some downsizing. I'm curious: when cops or other public officials break the law (dammit), does anyone show up at their door at 6 a.m. lookin to slap cuffs on them? No? Why not?
