Dallas-area kid filmmakers debut their production at AFI Fest

As reported back in August, a team of 15 Dallas-area teens won this year's Samsung Mobile Fresh Film event.
Their short film - called Saturday - beat out other teen filmmaking teams from all over the country, earning the right to make its premiere in Hollywood at the AFI Film Festival. Appropriately enough, Saturday plays on Saturday, Nov 8 at 9 a.m. (west coast time) at the Arclight Hollywood.
Since we were on the scene during actual production of the film, we are particularly pleased that our local young filmmakers made it so far. (All the way to the top, in fact.)
Says Taylor Gonzalez, one of the North Texas kid filmmakers who'll be attending the festival premiere: “Thank-you Samsung Mobile Fresh Films. This has been the greatest experience I’ve ever had.” (Hell, I'd be thanking 'em, too.)

Samsung's Youth FEST event at AFI brings together teen talent and Hollywood pros to share tips about the filmmaking industry and get a sneak peak at what the next wave of Hollywood hopefuls have to offer. Youth FEST features movie premieres, interactive panels and award presentations crafted to showcase and inspire the filmmakers of tomorrow.
Panelists participating in the event include:
* Executive producer, Bob Levy (GOSSIP GIRL)
* Chris Gore (FILM THREAT)
* Paul Scheer (HUMAN GIANT, 30 ROCK)
* Jon Gries (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE)
* Director Joe Nussbaum (SYDNEY WHITE)
