Dallas-Fort Worth firefighters and cops square off to pummel each other for charity

... though hopefully not senseless.

On Saturday (Nov. 8), teams of amateur boxers from DFW-area police departments will square off against pugilists from DFW-area fire departments in the 7th annual Guns and Hoses competition.

The fire dudes beat the crap out of the cops in last year's match by a score of 10 bouts to six, winning the bragging rights by near-Obama levels. Since the proceeds from the event (held at Mesquite's Resistol Arena) go to benefit a range of area charities, it's all for a good cause, and the winning "side" gains possession of a coveted trophy that can be lorded over the opposing organization for an entire year.
