Fort Worth to continue (again) hearing on Carter Park gas well site in extra long council meeting
The Fort Worth City Council will be meeting at their usual location Tuesday at 10 a.m. This is gonna be a long one since they canceled last week's meeting for election day. For those of you planning on attending, I hope you have some mad sitting-still skills. Some of the items on this week's agenda include:
- The council will continue the hearing on the gas well sites to go near Carter Park. They are also starting a new public hearing for a gas well site south of Prairie Dog Park in Southeast Fort Worth. If you live near there, you may want to attend the meeting. I'm surprised Chesapeake hasn't given up yet with the plummeting energy prices.
- The city will be authorizing the closure of Main Street Between 3rd Street and 4th Street from November 17, 2008, until January 9, 2009 for the Christmas tree in Sundance Square. Is it that time of year already? Haven't I asked that this year already?
- The council will officially confirm Jeff Halstead as Police Chief. I wonder if there will be some kind of swearing in or if the council members will all just say "Yay" in an anti-climactic official confirmation.
- This week the city is purchasing emergency water bottles and "drums, pails and related accessories." Will the Fort Worth City Council be joining STOMP? The council will be rejecting the bid for uniform shirts for the Fire Department. I know this sounds awesome if you are single and female (shirtless firefighters), however the Fire Department did show up at my apartment complex in the middle of the night early Monday and I can assure you they have shirts they can wear in the meantime.
