Riaan Nel, Food & Beverage Director of The Fairmont Dallas is pleased to announce the appointment of Hunter Hammett as Sommelier of the Pyramid Restaurant. Hunter joins Pyramid following stints at Fearing's and The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek and brings an extensive background to the post including being named a Certified Sommelier; Certified Specialist, Wine & Spirits; and Distinguished member - Wine Century Club.
At Pyramid, Hammett will work with Executive Chef jW Foster to research and select wine for the cellar, pair food and wine for guests and special events, and develop staff training and seminars. "The Pyramid was and is the luxury dining destination in the Dallas Arts District", said Hammett, "and I am greatly honored to be a part of its rebirth."
Traveling around the world at an early age, tasting the local cuisine and traditional beverages, and experiencing unique cultures cultivated Hunter Hammett's passion for wine. While completing a degree at The University of Dallas, the remarkable experience of traveling abroad through many European and South American countries sparked an interest to learn more about this world and its delicacies.
Hammett has also served as a judge for both The Dallas Morning News and Grapevine International Wine Competitions.
