Fellowship for young film music composers announced by BMI
As you're probably aware, the North Texas region is loaded with people engaged in movie-making. And there's a well-developed infrastructure in place to support their activities.
For that segment of the filmmaking community who are both a) under the age of 35, and b) interested in creating music for films and/or television, here's an opportunity to meet and learn from the experiences of established theatrical, film and television composers. Oh, and there's a $3,000 stipend attached to take care of your L.A. travel (and other) expenses.
That's right, the winning applicant for the Pete Carpenter Fellowship will get a trip to the west coast to work for up to five weeks with Mike Post, who partnered with the late Pete Carpenter to create the unforgettable themes for NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law and Law and Order. Naturally, other distinguished music makers will be in and out of Mr. Post's work environment during the course of the internship, allowing for additional learning experiences (and the establishment of invaluable contacts).
Applications can be made online or via email (to carpenterfellowship@bmifoundation.org). If you're old-school (or just paranoid), send snail-mail to: Linda Livingston, BMI Foundation, 8730 Sunset Blvd., 3rd Floor West, Los Angeles, CA 90069. Deadline for applications is Jan. 26, 2009.
