Ultra-luxe” Dallas home can be yours for $15 million

In Ross Perot's neighborhood.

The 2008 Luxe Showhome - for people who have money to burn.
The 2008 Luxe Showhome - for people who have money to burn.

With the economy in the tank and home foreclosures piling up across the country, what better time to put a $15 million home on the market, right? Well, that's what Ross Perot, Jr., luxury homebuilder Mark Molthan, and residential broker Robbie Briggs are thinking, as they are showing off the 2008 Luxe Showhome, valued at $11.5 million ($15 million with all the fixins) starting today, Thursday, November 13th.

The more than 15,000 square-foot home is one of 17 estates in a gated enclave called The Creeks at Preston Hollow, a development located on Inwood Road at Royal Lane. The house has six bedrooms, eight baths, four half-baths, an eight-car garage, five fireplaces, a two-story library, a theater and game room, a wine cellar, a wine-dining room, luxurious spa and fitness facilities, and a partridge in a pear tree. Says Perot, “The Creeks of Preston Hollow offers this luxury buyer a truly one-of-a-kind lifestyle opportunity in one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in Dallas.”

So, if you've got that kind of cash lying around, the 2008 LUXE Showhome will be open to the public Thursdays (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) through Sundays (noon-5:00 p.m.) for five weeks beginning November 13 and ending Sunday, December 14, 2008. Oh, did I mention you have to buy tickets to see it? They're $15, but ticket sales do benefit Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and the Junior League of Dallas, so it's not all bad. Tickets are available online at www.jld.net and at the Showhome at 5020 Elm Hollow Drive at the Creeks of Preston Hollow in the southwest corner of Inwood and Royal in Dallas.

I went to a preview of this house last week. The courtyard was amazing. It has a lot of features that many high-end homes don't have. Sick.

I found the negative spin placed on this story disturbing because the purpose of visiting the home is to help the children. I plan to visit this home because I have heard wonderful things about it. Even though I could not afford a home at this price level I feel that helping the charities is important this time of year. Vanessa

Mike Orren, says:

Let's not be naive. The charity is a fine ancillary motive, but the publicity is geared towards selling the home and the development.

That's why Perot says: “The Creeks of Preston Hollow offers this luxury buyer a truly one-of-a-kind lifestyle opportunity in one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in Dallas.”

and not:

“The Creeks of Preston Hollow offers sick kids a truly one-of-a-kind lifesaving opportunity in one of the best hospitals in Dallas.”

Don't want to think too far outside the box, but couldn't one "help the children" without visiting a model manse? You know, by, say, writing a check and sending it to Scottish Rite? Or by going to their site and making an online donation ( http://tinyurl.com/6xqet8 )?

Incidentally, tickets are $15 if you order them in advance. They're $18 at the door. (Also, I can't find any clear statement that all proceeds from ticket sales will go to the charities.)

Pavel Lishin, says:

The purpose of visiting the home is to either gawk at things you cannot afford, or to take a look at the home and consider buying a different one that strangers haven't trampled all over.

I raise Michael Cain sugar and have not gotten the deed yet, until then, MO a real Trouper.

Let's think about that and the rebuilding of Zanadue for 15 million... While in Jet Rink's or J.R"S Dallas, just spread the wealth around like butter and maybe you might have some bread left, meanwhile, some Michael Cain Sugar to boot..also...A.T, Orson Well's Brother.
