Dallas has surprising access to some of the “10 healthiest supermarkets in the U.S.”
Fluffy "news organization" MSNBC compiled a list of the top 10 healthiest grociery stores out of the nation's largest chains and Dallas had more access than might be expected, with four of the 10 chains on the list available to local shoppers:
Whole Foods, predictably, was No. 1.
Safeway -- owner of Tom Thumb chain -- was No. 2, cited for their organic brands (O Organics for packaged goods and Eating Right for prepared foods) and locally grown produce.
Albertsons was No. 6, thanks to the affordability of its organic house brand, Wild Harvest. And SuperTarget was No. 10, with brands like Kashi, Quaker, Sahala Snacks, Barbara’s, and find inexpensive, high-quality house brands like Market Pantry (cooking staples, etc.) and trans fat–free Archer Farms (which includes baked goods, appetizers, and snacks).
