Fort Worth to offset tree lights with wind energy
The 54-foot blue spruce in Sundance Square will take about 18,000 kilowatt-hours to light. This year, however, that tree will be green(er) with wind power offsets from Green Mountain Energy. The tree lighting will take place the day after Thanksgiving at a holiday celebration.

At least cowtown knows how to do it up at the holidays. Downtown Dallas doesnt have a great square or public space for an amazing tree or really anything else during the holidays, which is really sad.

It's just so perfectly Dallas to have chopped up a huge tree and then offset the carbon to light it up. Why not forgo the tree and just string the lights up main? It's just going to get soaked in vomit from the after effects of those long bottle-service fueled nights down there anyway.

Do tree farms grow trees that big for the xmas season? I bet they don't. One only hopes they cut the tree down with a solar powered chainsaw.

The whole thing is possibly moot if you argue for the long chain hydrocarbon based fake ones, but eliminating the entire tree entirely for some reusable alternative seems most reasonable.

Agreed! How about a 54 ft tree made of recycled CD and DVD plastic? All that sparkly stuff and refraction would be enough to spaz out all the epileptics in town.
