McKinney High School Marquette captain to perform in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Taylor Lewis, captain of the McKinney High School Marquettes, has been invited to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The invitation came after attending the Starmaker’s Officer Camp in June.
There are approximately 1,000 dancers from across the nation performing in the parade and Lewis will be one of them, representing McKinney, MHS and the Marquettes. Lewis departs Texas on Saturday bound for New York and a performance in what has become an iconic symbol of Thanksgiving.
The performers will take part in daily rehearsals to prepare for the live TV performance on Thursday morning on NBC. In addition to the rehearsals, parade participants will experience the city with tours (such as the Empire State Building), shows, and a half day of shopping on Canal Street. This year, performers will also get to enjoy the Tony award-winning musical In the Heights as well as the Radio City Music Hall "Christmas Spectacular."
Leanne Mendez, director of the Marquettes, will also be there for the event as a staff member with Mike Miller and Associates, acting as a guide and chaperone to the performers.
