UPDATED: Two 13-year-old boys arrested for Oak Cliff fires
Residents report that at least 12 fires have been set in the Winnetka Heights neighborhood in North Oak Cliff since Monday (November 17). Most of the fires have been set in trash cans, but some of the fires have spread to garages, worrying homeowners about the possibility of losing their homes. While police are trying to find the culprits, residents are surveilling their own neighborhood to see if they can catch an arsonist in the act.
UPDATE: Two Greiner Middle School students were arrested in the fires that wreaked havoc on a North Oak Cliff neighborhood leading up to Thanksgiving. The 13-year-old boys reportedly set the fires on the way to school. A fire set on November 21 caused $50,000 damage to one home. When investigators started questioning the boys after that fire, the fires stopped happening. The boys later confessed and were arrested at their school on Wednesday afternoon.
