Chesapeake Energy employees pack Fort Worth council meeting

So many stooges (I mean, "supporters") of the gas drilling industry showed up that the fire marshal had to order folks to leave.

According to at least one council person, Thursday night's (Nov. 20) public meeting on the topic of natural gas drilling was more or less taken over by employees and supporters of Chesapeake Energy, who are key players in North Texas-based Barnett Shale natural gas extraction efforts.

The meeting - held in advance of a forthcoming vote on revisions to regulations regarding natural gas drilling - was held at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, in a building where so many people tried to get in that the fire marshal was forced to turn overflow crowds away.

Did you call employees of Chesapeake stooges?

Will you use the same derogation when describing the teaming masses that show up for Obama's coronation?

Enquiring minds want to know.

bobdon: actually, a careful reading of the subhead would lead one to infer that I applied the "stooge" appellation to supporters of Chesapeake, rather than specifically to employees.

Regardless, I hold stooges in the utmost regard, so your characterization of the term as a "derogation" is - in this instance - obfuscatory.

What do you think?
