Dallas ISD middle school teacher had sex with a student, alleges affidavit
Calvin J. Beckton is on leave - and in jail - pending the outcome of the investigation.
Dallas police heard from a 14-year-old student at Boude Storey Middle School (at 3000 Maryland Ave.) that her band director, Calvin J. Beckton, had forced her to have sex with him during a return trip to his office after he'd dropped off a bunch of other students at their homes. This allegedly happened at the end of October.
The incident came to light after a witness heard the student talking to Mr. Beckton in an inappropriate fashion, then followed up with the girl to leverage the details.
Beckton is on leave from his classroom duties, which seems like the only workable solution since he's also currently residing in the Dallas County graybar hotel in lieu of $40,000 bond stemming from a charge of sexual assault.
