West Plano resident Elise Fuller has finally realized her ballet dream. The Collin County Ballet Theatre has announced that Elise will assume the lead role of “Clara” in their 2008 production of the holiday classic The Nutcracker.
The 13 year old said, "When I heard the news, I was so excited, I was shaking!"
Elise is a junior company member of the Hathaway Academy of Ballet under the direction of Kirt and Linda Hathaway. She has been studying classical ballet with the Hathaways since they opened their studio in 2001.
Elise has danced in many supporting roles of the Nutcracker in years past, but to be able to dance the part of Clara is a "dream come true,” she exclaimed.
“Elise has worked hard to get to this point,” added her instructors. She has participated in Dance for the Planets, Plano Dance Festival and Regional Dance Association, Southwest. In addition, she was recently accepted into the Joffrey Ballet's Elite Ecole workshop in San Antonio, TX. Other performances include Cinderella, Coppellia, Sleeping Beauty, Dancing Through Time and Ballet Fete. "However", says Miss Fuller, "playing Clara will definitely be my favorite part!"
The Collin County Ballet Theatre's Nutcracker season begins December 20th at Liberty High School in Frisco with two shows at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The final show will be at the Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts in Richardson on December 23rd at 5:00 p.m. This performance will feature the Plano Symphony Orchestra. And returning again this year as guest artists will be the Boston Ballet's, Mrs. And Mr. Madrigal as the Sugarplum Fairy and her Cavalier.
Following the final performance at the Eisemann, there will be a VIP cocktail reception hosted by the Collin County Ballet Theatre Guild. This will be an opportunity for ballet patrons to meet the characters and performers from the Nutcracker. For ticket information call 972-747-0600 or go online.
