Wild Art: Photos of the End the Fed rally, City Lights Fest and the Marie Gabrielle Gardens

This week our Flickr community has shared their photos of the End the Fed Rally last weekend, the City Lights Festival downtown, some checkers and chess pics from the Marie Gabrielle Gardens in Dallas, the Bob Lilly book signing, and a pink mystery building. (If you have any info on said pink mystery building, please post below.)

Tips and Tricks

One good way to find inspiration and discover a different point of view is to examine the works of greats from the present and past. I'm not saying to copy a photograph, but finding an excellent photo and asking yourself why a photographer took a certain picture in a certain way can give you ideas on your next shoot. Stand on something tall, put something important in the foreground, or leave it out of focus in the background, etc etc.

The folks over at Google just released a new feature to help you rifle through awesome pics from some of the best photogs in history. They have gone and cataloged photos from Life Magazine. I think it's all of them. Wanna look back at Dorthea Lange's "Migrant Mother" photo? Easy. And it's all right there. You don't need to copy an image to find a good source of inspiration, wonder and technique that can be applied to your work.
