Trophy Club decides to merge Municipal Utility Districts
The Trophy Club Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs) 1 and 2 met this Saturday in a joint session and voted to move forward with the merger of MUDs 1 and 2. A task force is being established to work through the specific details with the intent of putting it to a vote of residents on the May 2009 ballot.
This is a step forward for Trophy Club, one that was part of the recommendation from the McLain Study. Discussions had begun prior to that study, however, at the request of the Town, all was put on hold until the completion of the analysis. A merger of the two MUDs should reduce some costs due to fewer meetings, legal fees, audits, etc., but more importantly, the city feels it will improve communication and simplify intergovernmental cooperation.
In other action, the Boards re-iterated that it intends to maintain its close relationship with the Town, maintaining a joint personnel policy and the efficiencies of shared staff.
