Media and beauty salon in Southlake fan flames of anxiety over minor outbreak of lice in early September
SOUTHLAKE After a beauty salon in Southlake -- whose name shall not be mentioned because it would serve their nefarious purposes -- sent out an alarmist email about head lice (they were trying to ramp up sales of their special lice shampoo), two TV stations and the Fort Worth Star Telegram did stories reassuring people that there really isn't an outbreak, certainly not as big as implied by that unnamed beauty salon.
The FWST did some legwork (thanks!) by getting spokespeople from both the Southlake school district and the Tarrant County Public Health Department to clarify that reports of head lice cases this fall have been slim-to-none. However, lice are a very popular topic and thus nearly irresistible fodder for bottom-feeders like TV stations and the FWST.
Fortunately, Pegasus News is above that kind of scavenging, low-life tactic.
