Chesapeake files federal lawsuit against Grand Prairie over pipeline
In an attempt to protect its citizens, Grand Prairie passed a number of ordinances overseeing the locations of equipment and compressor stations related to gas pipelines. But Chesapeake, through its subsidiary Texas Midstream, says that safety regulations should be decided by the state and federal codes, not by cities. In the first move of its kind, Chesapeake has filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Grand Prairie. The likely outcome could put a city in the same position as any of its individual residents, powerless against the "utility company."
