New officers and directors were elected at a recent meeting of the League of Women Voters of Arlington.
Tonya Presley was elected to a third term as President of the organization. Other officers elected to lead the League during 2008-2009 are Charlotte Foulkes, President-elect and Vice President, Voter Service; Valory Johnson, Secretary; and Brenda Koegler, Treasurer. Newly-elected directors are Lisa Felton, Finance; Jeanne Culver, Membership; Juana Byrd, Program; Sue A. Hogg, Action; and Barbara Prabhu, Public Relations.
In addition, League members voted to update the League’s 2003 study of Arlington parks and recreation facilities. While primarily known for providing unbiased, nonpartisan information about candidates seeking election, another major aspect of the League of Women Voters’ mission is to influence public policy through education and advocacy. League positions on issues are derived through member study and consensus.
The League of Women Voters of Arlington is a non-partisan political organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government and influences public policy through education and advocacy. Membership is open to all citizens of voting age. For further information call 817-472-5982 or visit www.LWVArlington-Tx.org.
