Jorge’s Tex-Mex Café opens at One Arts Plaza in Dallas

0

— Bringing 50 years of Mexican and Texas family traditions, Jorge's Tex-Mex Café announces its opening in One Arts Plaza.

Greeted by an outdoor mural of Mexican revolutionaries Pancho Villa and Emil Zapata, restaurant patrons will enjoy the traditional, upscale interior of the newest venture by restaurateur Jorge Veloz. Custom-made furnishings from San Miguel de Allende, hand-carved angels from Mexico suspended from the ceiling, and upholstery featuring a reproduction of New Mexican art set the tone for this latest addition to the arts district.

Featuring breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Jorge's Tex-Mex Café menu incorporates original recipes from Jorge Veloz's family-owned restaurant in Midland Odessa since the 1950's, with fresh additions created exclusively for Dallas.

Breakfast highlights, which can be ordered all day, include traditional egg dishes, such as Huevos Rancheros, eggs topped with salsa Espanola or salsa Ranchera; Heuvos Gusto, eggs served with two tamales and a choice of guisada or fajitas; Breakfast Tacos with cheese, chorizo or potato, and Huevos Montados, flat enchiladas with two eggs on top. Patrons can also enjoy traditional Americano fare including oatmeal, fruit and granola platter, pancakes and waffles. Specialty beverages, including El Chocolate de la Abuela, traditional Mexican hot chocolate, and Café de la Oya, traditional Mexican pot boiled with cinnamon coffee, are not to be missed.

Jorge's lunch and dinner menu features starters, soups, salads, lunch specials (available Monday through Sunday), Jorge's Tex-Mex Classics and Especialidades de la Casa. Highlights include house made Salsa; Chile con Queso made with a blend of cheeses and Jorge's secret touch; Caldo de Res, a beef and vegetable stew served with a side of rice and tortillas; Chile Relleno Naked or Breaded, fresh grilled in egg white batter, stuffed with cheese, chicken or ground beef and topped with salsa Espanola ; Flautas, grilled not fried stuffed with chicken or beef; Angie's Fish Tacos, mahi mahi sautéed in light Jorge's Diablo sauce served with a side of veggies, white rice, avocado salad and borracho beans.

Dessert offerings include Sopapillas and Ice Cream Burrito, both made to order; Chita's Flan, with a unique creamy texture; and a house-made Tres Leches cake.

"My family and I are excited to bring our fresh, made-to-order West Tex Mex to Dallas. I want everyone to taste what we love about the food our grandparents made us, and the authenticity of the recipes we have proudly stood behind for decades" remarked Michelle Mireles, co-owner, Jorge's Tex-Mex Café.
