Man posing as courier steals thousands from two DFW churches
The man showed up to churches in Keller and Frisco in about an hour's time, making off with their deposits before the real couriers showed up.
On Monday, separated by barely an hour, a man posing as a courier walked into two DFW area churches and made off with thousands of dollars in cash and checks. His first hit was the Fellowship of the Parks Church in Keller. Calling ahead to make sure the deposit was ready, the thief showed a badge, took the deposit, and left, all around 10:30 a.m. About an hour later he did the exact same thing at the St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Frisco.
In both cases, the churches did not realize their mistake until the real courier showed up about 90 minutes later. Parishioners who wrote checks fear identity theft.
