Over 3,000 Vietnamese former political prisoners and family members will convene in Dallas for reunion this weekend
More than 3,000 people from the U.S. and Canada are expected to attend this weekend's Families of Vietnamese Political Prisoners Association reunion in Garland and Dallas. The president of the Virginia-based organization held a similar reunion in Houston 10 years ago, but it drew mostly South Texas locals.
DFW has a Vietnamese population of 80,000, with a large percentage being third wave immigrants, those people who moved to the U.S. in the early 90s after spending several years in North Vietnamese re-education camps. The weekend will give those families from all over North America the chance to catch up and share stories of success after so many years of hardship and oppression.
