Property purchase for DCTA Bus Operations and Maintenance Facility in Denton is finalized
LEWISVILLE On Thursday, Oct. 2, the purchase of 15 acres by the Denton County Transportation Authority for the purposes of a new Bus Operations and Maintenance Facility was finalized.
The new Bus Operations and Maintenance Facility, which will be constructed at the intersection of Teasley and Shady Oak Drive, will replace the currently leased facilities located on Mayhill. Now that the property purchase is finalized, an environmental review in accordance with the Local Environmental Impact Determination and Mitigation Guidelines for Transit Projects will begin.
"Our agency continues to grow and expand to provide more transportation alternatives to Denton County residents. This new facility will better accommodate our operations and maintenance needs and provide a better working environment for our staff," stated John Hedrick, DCTA president. "Acquiring this land is an exciting step for our organization as we further solidify our presence in the community."
The DCTA Board of Directors approved the hiring of Huitt-Zollars to oversee the design and engineering of the facility. Construction on this facility should begin late next summer.
