Gay List Daily’s October 2008 Brunch of the Month

Fall in Dallas is all about the patio, so when scouting for this month’s brunch destination we kept our eyes open for yards and yards of wooden beams, and umbrellas in the mist. (Wasn’t that a Sigourney Weaver movie from the ’80s?)

And then, like an oasis of Bloody Marys and Bottomless Mimosas on the horizon, we happened upon Capitol Pub on Henderson. And boy, are we glad we did.

Not only is the patio spacious (with great views of little shops selling soccer jerseys and discount car insurance), but the food is just what you’d expect from a pub worth it's liquor license and street cred.

It’s hearty, value-priced and delicious without being pretentious or unnecessarily complicated.

Brunch stalwart Eggs Benedict is done to perfection and omelettes are as big as one of Michael Phelps’ giant webbed feet.

But we always give the most extra credit to any place that offers up something completely different from other spots. Here, it’s the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs. Served with Coleman’s English Mustard, the disc of crispy corned beef is the ideal salty foil to the gallons of orange juice and champagne we’re chugging like it’s our last day before the big AA retreat.

So get your pub grub on and spend a leisurely Sunday outside, the way God intended brunch to be.

Seriously, read Genesis if you don’t believe us.
