Jasper High School, Plano is site of homemade firework
PLANO On Oct. 7, at approximately 1 p.m., Plano Police officers responded to a suspicious circumstances incident at Jasper High School in the 6800 block of Archgate Drive.
Upon Officers arrival, school officials advised that a suspicious item had been located inside a school locker during an administrative search. The item was discovered to be a homemade firework.
Plano Police investigators have determined that a 14-year-old male, ninth grade student was the owner of the item. The student was interviewed and told officers that he and a second male juvenile had been going off-campus after-hours to use these homemade fireworks. The individual was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon due to the homemade nature of the item and has been transported to the Collin County Juvenile Detention Center.
The second male juvenile was identified and was also found to be in possession of fireworks. He has been charged with possession of fireworks.
The Plano Independent School District sent the below letter home today advising parents of this incident.

Dear Jasper Parents,
I am writing to inform you of a serious situation which occurred today at Jasper High School. At approximately 1 p.m., the Plano Police found a homemade explosive device on a student’s possession at school. The police rendered the device harmless and a criminal investigation is ongoing.
The safety and security of our students and staff members are always are top priorities.
At no time during the course of this situation were Jasper students or staff members in danger. The police took immediate action and are continuing to investigate this matter.
As principal, I value your involvement and participation in all aspects of our school. Please be assured that our team is working diligently to ensure that Jasper is always a safe place for our students and staff.

Firework, bomb, IED.
It's a thingie that goes boom; the definition changes based on how close it is to someone who isn't expecting fire and brimstone to impact their flesh.
