SMU cheerleader with pacemaker gets green light to cheer on

The cardiologist said she could cheer. SMU was not so sure. Who won this epic battle?

A competitive cheerleader and transfer student on scholarship, Jamie Burns was more or less "benched" after she disclosed her heart condition. SMU reduced Burns' contributions to clapping and wouldn't let her suit up for cheerleading routines. With input from the student's cardiologist, SMU Vice President of Student Affairs Lori White reversed the decision and Burns is now allowed to fully participate in cheerleading competitions and at football games.

Hip-hip-hooray for a story about a Texas cheerleader that doesn't make you cringe.
