— On Oct. 8, 2008 at approximately 7:45 a.m., Plano Police officers responded to a disturbance in the 2500 block of Millstream Drive.

Upon officers arrival, a man and woman were located inside the home. The male, displaying a knife, confronted the officers. A Plano Police sergeant then fired on the man due to the threat posed.

Both the man and woman were taken to a local area hospital for treatment. The man was transported in critical condition. The woman was transported with injuries that occurred prior to the arrival of the officers. Upon arrival at the hospital, the man was taken to surgery and was pronounced dead a short time later. Identification of the deceased man is pending due to the notification of next of kin.

The Plano Police sergeant involved in this incident is a 22-year veteran with the Plano Police Department. Consistent with departmental policy, the shooting is being investigated by the Plano Police Department and the officer involved will be placed on administrative leave with pay.
