On November 7, one of America’s greatest treasures, 93-year-old Grammy award-winning Blues legend David “Honeyboy” Edwards, will perform as part of the Blue Shoe Legends Program in Dallas for two incomparable student performances at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center.

Honeyboy Edwards is one of the most sought-after Bluesmen in the world for his eyewitness accounts of Blues history as it happened. Honeyboy, who remembers playing in Deep Ellum near downtown Dallas in the 1930s, recounts the death of legendary Bluesman Robert Johnson who also recorded in Dallas at 508 Park. This event will give students a rare opportunity to glimpse into the past and experience someone who was there when the Blues was born. If you visualize an image of what a Bluesman would look or sound like, playing on street corners in the early part of the last century in rural Mississippi, that image is embodied in David "Honeyboy" Edwards.

Four years ago The Blue Shoe Project set out on a mission to expose living legends of the Blues and those influenced by this uniquely American art form to students. Over 30,000 students have already experienced their Blues education programs. The “Blue Shoe Legends” program is an exciting live and interactive storyteller performance event that brings legends and high profile artists of the music industry into an educational setting to share their lives, experiences, music and wisdom with students.

There will be two performances at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Seating is extremely limited. Teachers, administrators and parents are strongly urged to reserve tickets online via the event website at www.BlueShoeLegends.com . Student tickets are $15.

A limited amount of tickets will be available for the general public on a first-come first-serve basis for $25 per ticket.
