Gay List Daily’s must-do events: October 10-14

Here are a few reasons to get out of the house, well except for the “house tour” but that’s totally different.

Oh no, another weekend is fast approaching and if you don’t make plans quick you’ll be on the fast train to boredom. And by fast train, we mean yet another Friday in front of the TV watching that episode of The Price Is Right your TiVo secretly recorded.

Or worse yet, you could be commiserating with those friends who never leave the house over a rousing game of Jenga. Maybe they’ll tell you that fascinating story about their visit to the antique doll museum again. No worries, we’ve got your back. Here are a few reasons to get out of the house, well except for the “house tour” but that’s totally different. Enjoy.

Bubble, Bubble, Toil & Trouble: Free Champagne Tasting

Friday, October 10, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Wine is fine and liquor is quicker, but the champagne is the name of the game this time. And Brut, the hot spot below Hotel Palomar, has fizzy glasses of goodness ready to effervesce that stressful workweek right out of your mind. Just remember that it’s impolite to double fist those tiny tasting glasses. Plus, too much champagne too quickly, and you might explode like that kid who drank soda while eating pop rocks.

Home Sweet Homo: Oak Cliff Home Tour

Saturday & Sunday, October 11 & 12, Noon to 6:00 p.m.

Okay, we admit that we have total obsessive-compulsive housey disorder. Like an interior junkie chasing the designer dragon, we’ve spent many a weekend just touring open houses to see what people have done with their places. And now the fine enablers over at the Old Oak Cliff Conservation League are presenting a dozen homes (built 1912 -1954) to tour and explore. We might just O.O.D. (overdose on dwelling).
