Two new Cedar Hill restaurants receive alcohol permits

— Two more restaurants in Cedar Hill, both to open later this year, have permits to sell alcoholic beverages.

Patrizio's Restaurant and Bailey's Prime Plus Steakhouse, both under construction at Uptown Village, applied for conditional use permits at the Sept. 23 Cedar Hill City Council meeting. Both restaurants are owned by Ed Bailey, who is also the nation's largest McDonald's franchisee.

Gary Van Gundy said Patrizio's should open about Nov. 10. Bailey's will not meet its original goal of opening in time for the holidays; Van Gundy said mid-January was the current target date for opening.

Van Gundy later said that a fire riser intruded into one corner of Bailey's floor area; that was the primary reason, using a conservative timetable, he said it won't open until next year.

That said, the Cedar Hill location will open before the Bailey's on Park Lane, near the NorthPark Center in Highland Park.

In response to a question from Councilman Wade Emmert, Van Gundy said Patrizio's other locations in Dallas averaged about 30 percent of their revenue coming from alcoholic beverage sales and that Patrizio's sites did not have separate bar areas.

Bailey's, on the other hand, will have not only a bar, but a full-service wine room, Van Gundy said.

He said Bailey's is conservatively estimating alcoholic beverage sales will be about 25 percent of its income.
