Highland Village man’s absentee election ballot returned for more postage

While a postal service spokesperson says North Texas carriers are being instructed to go ahead and deliver absentee ballots with only a single 42 cent stamp affixed, most area ballots are going to tip the scales at well over the single-stamp weight.

This one oughta get it there.
This one oughta get it there.

Thus, some mailed-in presidential election ballots - like the one sent in by Calvin Justice, of Highland Village - are "slipping through the cracks" and geting returned to senders for additional postage.

Which would be a problem, of course, if the ballot got sent out right before the election and there was not enough time for the remailed mail to reach its destination.

My advice: if it absolutely, positively has to get there on time, go ahead and slap two stamps on the envelope. Our nation's future is probably worth it. (Crossing fingers.)

John McClelland, says:

And this is why mail in ballots should be free to mail. The government should provide return envelopes with postage paid. Paying for your own postage is essentially a poll tax.

If it's worth 30,000 lobbyists, it's gotta be worth 84 cents.

Good point John. Had not thought of it in those terms but you're spot on.

An' then I'm gonna vote "Snoopy". Yes, I'm a hypocrite. So what.
