40-year-old Arlington miniature golf course to close

The Putt-Putt miniature golf complex on Division Street in Arlington will close its doors in early November after the owner, Ken Smith, decided the location wasn't profitable anymore. The Division Street complex has been open since 1969, originally comprised of 54 holes, and was open 24 hours a day. But zoning changes, changing times, and business decisions, including Smith opening another Putt-Putt in Arlington that competed for business, have made the location go downhill.

24 hours? Who knew. What a heartbreak. This place was my very first real job during high school. Put in a lot of hard work, and helped build the go-kart track. I like that building and lot. R.I.P. Putt-Putt on Division.

It is/was a crappy neighborhood though. We did deal with our share of malcontents regularly. That zone was full of what Arlington has been trying to eliminate for so long. Now, thanks to Jerryworld - north Arlington is halfway to being paradise! (if you're into sort of thing...)
