DFW-area dairy farms almost extinct
The Richardson Dairy Farm in Collin County plans to shut down as soon as Monday, leaving only one family-owned dairy -- Lavon Farms in Plano -- in operation in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Dairies have faced multiple obstacles in recent years, including the advanced ages of the owners, a desire for free time, increased price of land, or just lack of land on which to expand.
